In this project students got to do something that they admittedly do often; doodle! They were introduced to images of artwork where 'doodling' is the main theme. They were encouraged to create new and interesting designs within their artworks... And their work turned out amazing!
This week students created a mural in the hallway. Using a projector and LARGE sheets of red and black paper, they traced outlines of football players in action. The outlined silhouettes were cut out and hung in the hall with other student made signs and decorations. This project was lots of fun and was ready just in time for homecoming!
Students were introduced to various types of wire art. They then had the opportunity to learn how to manipulate and create with different gauges of wire as they each made an 8"x8" square to incorporate into a class quilt.
Students worked hard last week to create their own working ocarinas. An ocarina is a wind instrument that has been made by various cultures for centuries.
We made ours out of clay and learned that getting it to make noise can be a tough job. In spite of that difficulty, they are now all working and drying in the art room! This school year marks the beginning of our Jr. High Art classes! Students will have the opportunity to participate in art class every day for one quarter of the year.
